VWD Connect Foundation hosted the Third Provider Education Workshop on Severe Von Willebrand Disease, October 9-11, 2026 at the West Palm Beach Marriott in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The weekend event brought together a diverse group of healthcare professionals, including hematologists, genetic counselors, nurse practitioners, RN’s, social workers, health educators, physical therapists, clinical research coordinators and OB/Gyn. Participants came from all around the country mostly representing HTCs along with private hematology practice providers. The weekend was full of enthusiasm and collaboration, with meaningful conversations between providers who may not have had the chance to connect otherwise.
A variety of sessions were featured including education on the diagnosis and symptoms of sVWD, management challenges - such as prophylaxis, GI bleeding, and acute vaginal bleeding – and an interactive session on the impact of sVWD on patients’ sexual activity and health.
Attendees also heard updates from industry professionals, and well as from the Foundation’s research committee members sharing the latest on the Foundation’s International Consensus Panel to Define Severe Von Willebrand Disease project.
Once again, the highlight for many attendees was the Patient Panel held on Friday evening. Foundation members very openly share their individual experiences and perspectives in the hopes of improving patient-centered care during the hour-long discussion.
The Workshop’s Innovation Fair displayed interactive tables where participants could explore educational learning centers, industry advances and research updates, along with demonstrations of wellness tools and activities.
